How to Sell Scrap Gold

When you’re scraping a precious metal, no matter what that metal may be, you always want to do your homework. So whether you’re wondering how to sell scrap gold or some other precious metal, you need to take a lot of things into consideration.

For example, while you can make a profit from this type of scrap gold selling, there are some pieces that are worth far more than that. Items which are usually scrapped are those that are bent or broken. Sometimes a simple wedding band or other rings like a high school or college class ring may also be scrapped since their value alone isn’t really worth much.

Also coins that are defective or damaged may be scrapped as well as dental crowns and bridgework, individual earrings, nuggets, wire, watches and some electronics.

Before you take the items to a buyer you will want to separate them first. The best way to do so is by seperating each piece into piles of 10k, 14k, 18k and so on. Next, you’ll want to remove anything that may be of value to another buyer since as stones or jewels.

And finally before you take your scraps to a dealer, weigh them and then call around to find out who has the best price for the weighed pieces. So now that you know how to sell your scrap gold, don’t let a buyer fool you into anything less than what your items are really worth.

I say BEWARE where you choose to sell your gold and silver. There are a lot of companies out there now and some not so scrupulous. Do your homework on them - be sure they have a good BBB report, pay fairly, don't have sneaky terms and conditions, can pay you promptly (and not via a check they send you too late for you to refuse the "offer"), have good customer reviews and talk to them - are they reputable and professional. And find out lots of comparison prices....many local places pay less than the online guys...and even these gold parties too - - remember, they have to pay the tester, AND the hostess! Where is that coming from - your pocket!
I used Silver and Gold Exchange and had a great, safe, honest experience. I recommend them and will use them again. Be careful! http:silverandgoldexchange.com
