How to Sell Gold Jewelry

How to Sell Gold Jewelry

It’s always a good idea to know how to sell gold jewelry unless you want to end up getting far less than what your gold items are actually worth. What most people don’t realize is that you can even sell gold that is broken and make some quick cash if you know how to go about it.

First, don’t fall for those ads where buyers claim you can get thousands for that bracelet that’s been sitting in the bottom of your jewelry box. You’ll just end up setting yourself up for disappointment when you find out that all they’re willing to offer you is less than a hundred dollars for that bracelet.

Be leery of selling gold to buyers who are willing to set up camp for a weekend event and then vanish back to where they came from. While not every business will be illegitimate, it’s not easy to determine who’s worth selling your gold to in a matter of a few days.

Ask them for proof that they’re licensed by the state to buy gold and whether they have permits and carry insurance. Any business that is legit will be able to produce the information without any negative reaction to your questions.

If you absolutely must have the business weigh your valuables, ask if they have an approved scale with a blue seal which is required by law in some states to verify accuracy of your weight. If not, have the dealer show you the readout from the scale so you know exactly how much your pieces are worth. If that dealer refuses, then you should find another buyer.

Remember, you have every right to know how your items are being handled. You have every right to ask questions and ask for proof so that you know exactly how to sell gold jewelry without being duped. If you’re told otherwise, take your items and run.
